You don't really want to create a MySQL database just to sort a list of items. You can do it within a PHP script.

Here's an example:

$colors = array("Red", "Green", "Blue", "Yellow");
sort($colors);
foreach($colors as $color) { print "$color "; }


Put those three lines in a PHP script and it should print the colors sorted in alphabetical order.

Tell us more about what you are starting with. I assume you have a bunch of MIDI files? Maybe some QCPs or MP3s? Anyway, it's a collection of files, right? Are they all named following some kind of convention like, artist - title.mid?

If not, do you know the artist and title associated with each file? Where is that information stored? Metatags? An SQL database? A spreadsheet?

Somewhere along the way you need to associate a file, artist, and title together so you can sort the list.
